I remember watching the series “The Company” about the CIA, and how the most talented minds in the 60’s & 70’s would leave the public sector after serving their country — to join the private sector and lobby government. In today’s economy, productive minds have no private sector to enter into because of the perpetuity of this reciprocal crony relationship between government and free-enterprise. Now the goals and dreams of the young and ambitious are unfortunately confined to the public sector. After looking at cost vs. benefits, people today may sell a productive small business to be a supervisor in the Department of Homeland Security, simply because it may serve their best interest.

If you are ambitious - open up a business and do something productive. Don’t make a living in the “public” sector just because they destroyed the private sector. The fact that you are good at managing your own life hardly suggests you are capable of managing other people’s.
